The Nautical Temple is an Atlantis-like subnautical settling of the Bouwder, a tribe of of ancient sea creatures who've rejected the crystal-based lifestyle of Delfid.

## Lore

The undersea domain of the Bouwder people. Previously isolated from the
outside world, access has been busted open through wide availability of
Delfid teleportation magic. Consequently, it's labyrinthian channels have
quickly dissolved into a war zone between demons and foreigners.

## Author's Notes

"Bouwder" is dutch for builder. Feel free to run with that.

Considering *Frozen Record Zone*, there have been ideas to give this zone
hints of a second library instead. Lore-wise this would be justified by
being a second archive, independently developed by the otherwise isolated
Bouwder people. None of this has been fixated yet, though.

In the game[edit | edit source]

Lost Oasis[edit | edit source]

Concept art for Lost Oasis

Lost Oasis was a scrapped alternative concept for Nautical Temple Zone, set inside a mysterious floating body of water containing an M.C. Escher-inspired city, which spontaneously and inexplicably appears in various locations across Planet Weissblatt.

## Lore

For the last 700 years, a myth persisted across the planet: A giant sphere of water - sometimes called "the oasis" - would manifest above random, remote spots of planet Weissblatt's surface, only to disappear soon before any recordings could be taken.

Many self-ascribed witnesses warned of the peril of approaching it - should one somehow manage to spot it in the wild - while others alleged an entire city to be contained within, with labyrinthian architecture and magic foreign to common worldly understanding.

Fringe movements have dedicated themselves to studying the alleged behavior of this so-called "oasis" and predicted that it may soon reappear somewhere near the grand desert.

## Author's Notes

Basically a better take on [Nautical Temple Zone], as the Atlantean theme seemed too close to Sonic and too generic in general.

Inspiration for this zone was that (although the sequence is user-decidable during phase 1), something felt "right" about following up the water with the desert zone, so I tried to tie them together lore-wise.
